Picture of the month - November 2007

  Eagle Owl

Animal photography can be complicated - investigating environment and behaviour, finding your subject, getting close enough, having a suitable light condition  and the time to do all of that.

True for wildlife. This owl here just was captive, sitting on it's "owners" arm during a show event in my favorite wildpark Hundshaupten. We met both of them during a walk through the park, while they were talking to some other guests (well, just the guy talked, not the owl).

An impressive view caught my attention - the orange glowing eye. Having my favorite "animal lens" (the 100-400 zoom) ready, a half portrait shoot as this one was not too complex to take. Some luck with the light - it was a sunny day -supported getting this picture.

Look for the right vista,
your Mr. Mooseman !
