Cork Oak Forest

Quercus suber
Cork Oak

Unnamed Road, Grosseto, Tuscany, Italy, Europe

Tuscany is world-famous for it's excellent wines such as Chianti, Morellino, Brunello or Rosso di Montalcino. Not surprising, that the region is also rich in cork oaks - as wine corks are still more common than other sealing caps. In this image the lower areas of the oak trees show a different color - this is where the bark has been peeled from the trunks.
